Airbus A340

Airbus’ first four-engine jet airliner, the Airbus A340 brought the company truly into the international scene as a major competitor to Boeing’s 777.


Swooping into the clouds with Flight 53 to Port Louis Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport is Air Mauritius Airbus A340-313 3B-NBD, delivered to the company in September 1997 under serial number 194, and goes by the name of Parakeet.


 At the spacious gates of Terminal 3 are a line of heavy, long-distance aircraft being prepared for their lengthy flights, including two SAS Airbus A340’s and an Emirates Airbus A380.
